The girls get the blame. Again!

So it’s women that are wrong, is it?

Thames Water thinks so. Launching its Waterwisely campaign this week Thames Water blasted women for wasting 50 billion litres of water each year by shaving their legs in the shower.

Given this is World Water Week; they should really take a more intelligent approach to water conservation and consumer education. Why doesn’t the water industry work together to find long term sustainable solutions to reduce water consumption? Partnerships with energy companies and boiler manufacturers to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs for consumers would not go amiss either.

Effective behaviour change campaigns are difficult to get right. However, the most successful focus on engagement rather than pointing the finger. Surely that’s a no brainer.

This campaign will certainly generate a lot of headlines. Just not for the right reasons.
