Serious about Sustainability in Singapore.

Last week Corporate Citizenship hosted a sustainability event in the heart of Singapore. Junice Yeo, Director South East Asia and Karin Laljani, Managing Director were joined by Alan Ang, Director City Development Ltd and Professor Kenneth Richards of Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs to host the event. Corporate Citizenship welcomed over 30 companies on the day – including Nestle Singapore, DBS Bank, Golden Agri-Resources, Diageo and Genting Singapore – who were all keen to discuss the current sustainability agenda in Singapore and South East Asia.

The day began with Professor Kenneth Richards presenting on the basics and history of sustainability, followed by Alan Ang from CDL providing a company perspective. Corporate Citizenship then launched their latest research paper, Creating Resilient Strategies, which includes insights from 16 global companies, including Singapore’s very own Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), City Developments Limited (CDL) and Sembcorp Industries. The research findings provided a global context to sustainability and the challenges faced by organisations today; also revealing how integrated sustainability is key to creating resilient and sustainable strategies.

The research launch and open discussion revealed some great insights, with companies able to openly share their sustainability experiences, successes and challenges. The event was followed by an evening drinks reception, which was warmly received by all guests. The Corporate Citizenship team received great feedback from the day and look forward to their continued work with companies in the region.
