During the last year, Corporate Citizenship has helped to engage companies such as Tullow, Schlumberger, Lonrho, Diageo, Mondelez Coco Life (Cadbury’s Foundation), and a few others.

The Western Region Coastal Foundation brings together businesses, local communities, government and development agencies to coordinate social investments in six coastal districts in Ghana that are affected by the new oil and gas sector. The Foundation will focus on building local supply chains, improving social stability through community dialogue, and promoting inclusive economic development for the 364,000 residents of the coastal communities.

The Foundation will be partly funded by DFID (£9.5 m) and resource contributions from the private sector, particularly oil and gas companies. This project represents a unique multi-stakeholder approach to tackling development issues in communities affected by the oil and gas industry.

Over the next four years, the team will continue to support the Foundation’s work in building trusted relationships with the private sector in Ghana, developing impact measures, and publishing impact reports.
